Homemade quinoa baby cereal is not only a delicious choice for your little one, but it’s also packed with healthy nutrients. Quinoa is an excellent source of protein, which is essential for growing babies. This food also contains vitamins A and B, fibre, iron, zinc and folate. It’s also gluten-free! All you’ll need to make this tasty homemade baby food are ingredients that you likely already have in your kitchen cupboard or fridge: cooked whole grain quinoa (1/2 cup), 1 banana (mashed), 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup.

Ingredients:

1 cup cooked quinoa (I used 1/2 cup uncooked quinoa)

1 banana (mashed)

2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (Blueberry Baby Cereal) or any other favorite fruit puree, if desired. To make your own blueberry puree, simply puree 1 cup fresh blueberries in a blender or food processor until smooth. This step will only take a few minutes.

Directions:

Place 1/2 cup cooked quinoa in a food processor or blender and puree until smooth and creamy, about 30 seconds. Stir in the mashed banana and honey (or other chosen flavor) and stir to combine. If you choose to make your own blueberry puree, add after the banana mixture. Transfer cereal to a jar or container and serve cold or heat, as desired. If heating, place in a microwave-safe dish and heat for 1 minute before serving. You can also serve it in a bowl and microwave for 10 to 15 seconds before serving.
